Spring 2010. Cockpit coaming damage from winch handles and some very poor varnish prep by former Mystic Seaport Museum workers is repaired.
Two different species of Mahogany require a special method to stabilze their sun fading. West System 105 resin and their 207 Special Coatings Hardener are the perfect product. They have changed the 207 from amber to clear, which was a bit troubling since the amber color is the secret. Luckily I had a gallon of the amber 207 left over from the Cape Fear 38 prototype, 10 years old. It worked just fine, I love the stuff, excellent laminating hardener as well.

The West System epoxy is fantastic, brings out some amazing color and does stabilize the wood. The termites at the Seaport wanted to bleach and stain, no comment!
The owner, my pops, has only one question each and every year at this same time: Will we be ready for Off Soundings?!
